Frequently asked questions

1 / What is EMDR?

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a therapy that helps process traumatic experiences. It uses guided eye movements (or other forms of bilateral stimulation) to reduce the emotional impact of distressing memories. This approach aims to enhance the brain's natural healing processes for better emotional well-being. Completion of EMDR therapy can result in long lasting symptom relief.

In some cases, EMDR therapy may not be appropriate for certain conditions. Appropriateness will be determined in the beginning phases of therapy.

2 / Do you take insurance? What is your fee?

I am currently a private-pay, out-of-network provider. While I don't accept insurance directly, I can provide a super bill for you to submit to your insurance. Your insurance plan may have out-of-network benefits, which means that they will reimburse you for a portion of our session cost. I recommend contacting your insurance directly for more information regarding your specific plan agreements.

Session fees

I offer 2 individual session types:

  1. Individual therapy: $250 per 50 minute session.

  2. Extended individual therapy: $425 per 90 minute session. This option is only available for EMDR and is not required. Extended sessions for EMDR are shown to resolve targeted traumas at a faster rate on average. Appropriateness for this type of session will be determined during the first phase of treatment upon request and availability.

* Some sliding scale spots available, please inquire.

3 / Why choose a specialist for perinatal concerns and (or) trauma?

Specialized trainings and approaches allow for safe, effective, and long lasting healing to occur. As a specialist, I have in-depth knowledge and experience in these areas which allows for a tailored approach for your unique needs. This expertise can lead to more accurate diagnoses and targeted interventions, ultimately enhancing the therapeutic process. By selecting a therapist who understands perinatal mental health and trauma, you increase the likelihood of achieving meaningful progress in your mental health journey.
